Parent Volunteers

We welcome parents into school to help support and sometimes to organise activities on behalf of the children. There will be details about this circulated in Year Groups at the beginning of the school year. Please feel welcome to approach your child's class teacher however if you ever feel able to give some time to support in school.  Any parent who regularly supports an activity in school will be required to complete a CRB check.  Please see Mrs. Banfield for the correct forms. You may also approach any member of staff or parent who runs an activity.

We are delighted to offer a very broad and enriched curriculum which includes many visitors to school and visits out of school including a residential trip in each year group.  It is crucial that on trips out of school we have an adequate and if possible generous ratio of children to adults in order to safeguard health and safety. We rely on some parents to support trips and usually are happy to accommodate all who can be fitted in.  Please consider joining your child's class in this way. It is very important please to keep the class teacher well informed of your availabilty and to give as much notice as possible if you cannot come.

There are good opportunities for regular weekly support or for being part of a team working on a rota basis.  The following clubs which are extremely valuable in giving extra provision for the children are

Library Club -  daily club (except Friday) which runs in the Library 12.15 - 1.00 p.m. Children are free to come into the library to browse or to change their book. They may sit and complete a quiet activity.  Parent volunteers are trained as librarians and are sometimes assisted by pupil librarians.  Please see Mrs. Fowler who will put you in contact with the parent who organises the Library Club Rota.

Growing Club - meets at lunchtime 12.30-1.00 p.m. every Tuesday.  Members of this thriving club tend the plants and small pond in the courtyard, other pots around the school and our small vegetable plot. They also undertake other individual growing projects from time to time.  Please see Mrs. Henneberry who will put you in contact with the parent who organises the Growing Club. More help needed.

Healthy Tuck - the shop runs daily and help is needed any time between 9.00 and 10.30 to prepare items for sale. It has been great to see the different treats that our helpers have chosen to prepare.  You could come in on a regular weekly basis or offer a few dates in the term.  Please see Ms. Spink who organises the rota for Healthy Tuck. More help needed.

Games Club - It has been suggested that we organise an indoor games club. As yet this activity has not started although a parent has volunteered to organise a rota. Please see Miss Russell if you would like to help with this. More help needed.
